ISBN: Frequently Asked Questions
ISBN 10 or ISBN 13? What kind of ISBN do I want?
All modern book barcodes use ISBN-13, so that's the symbology you want to use - ISBN-10 is no longer valid. If you have an ISBN-10 barcode number, select the "ISBN-10" symbology and enter your number - Easy Barcode Creator will automatically update it to an ISBN-13 number.
How do I use price extensions?
Price extensions are sometimes used to indicate the retail price of an item (usually a book) in the United States and Canada. Click on the Set Price button, then type "33.50" for $33.50.
Can I create a price extension for over $99.98?
Yes. See
this publication from the Book Industry Study Group (BISG).
Can I create a price extension for currencies outside U.S. and Canadian Dollars?
You should not do this, per the International ISBN Agency's current standards. See the ISBN Users' Manual for more information.
